The Freshman Research Initiative offers first year students the opportunity to initiate and engage in authentic research experiences in chemistry, biochemistry, nanotechnology, molecular biology, physics, astronomy and computer sciences while being supported and mentored by faculty and graduate students.

The FRI collaborates with TIP (the Texas Interdisciplinary Plan) to educate the researchers of tomorrow. Both programs are designed to give students increased access to faculty and help them realize their potential.  See video here.

Undergraduate Research Forum

The Undergraduate Research Forum is an opportunity for students to present and share the research they've done over the past semester or year. The 2009 Forum took place on April 17, 2009 from 11 am - 3 pm in Welch Hall. More than 150 students gave posters describing their research. The best and most innovative posters were recognized with awards judged and sponsored by the university, faculty, alumni and industry. Learn more.
